Washington is much abuzz about affordable health care insurance for
everyone. Who can deny the emotional vote getting appeal on this
issue. After all, we as a nation are number one in obesity, number one
in degenerative disease, and adding insult to injury, iatrogenic
illness is about the number four killer of Americans after heart
disease, stroke and cancer.
Like all mortals I have personally encountered some of these health
related issues. But, when forced into the HMO movement I was outraged
by the lack of choice and voice. I did not like paying for insurance
and then being routinely processed. Often, we are told that a
treatment or procedure is “not covered”.
Of course, federal involvement in health care is unconstitutional.
That is little comfort to the constituent that is struggling to hang
on to life and has no real means of paying for medical treatment. I
want to create a paradigm shift in this political spin.
First, our health industry is pretty much just keeping up with
inflation. So, the problem really isn’t that they are too expensive.
The problem is really that the labor rate for the masses has not kept
up with inflation.
Second, while universal health coverage gets votes, who will pay for
it? If it comes through an insurance underwriter they are the clear
winner financially. In fact any federal involvement will involve the
Federal Reserve System, the nations private central bank, and if
anyone can keep up with the financial machinations we will find that
once again the vertically integrated moneyed interest are taking their
cut off of the top. Pastor-at-large Charles Mieir (who still lives in
Granville County) once observed “Never expect a third party to pay
your medical bills cheaper than you can”.
Third, what kind of coverage are we going to get? And, how soon? You
know all we have to do is look at the Canadians that are lined up at
our border to buy medical care, because they will die before
“socialized medicine” will get to them in Canada.
One of my favorite publications on the subject of health is “True
Health” a bimonthly publication by Tom Valentine. The
November/December 2007 has an editorial opinion wherein he does a good
job explaining why we should keep the federal government our of health
care. His website is
