I
am opposed to the National Bio- and Agro- Defense Facility.
Presented as a necessary facility to study animal to animal and animal
to human disease, this Department of Homeland Security project would
also bring a number of jobs to the Butner- Creedmoor area in Granville
County.
Opposing this federal project called the “Biolab” is the Granville
Nonviolent Action Team (GNAT). Their website
www.nobio.org
does an adequate job of explaining the justifiable concerns of area
residents.
In my opposition to the Biolab, I want to take a different direction.
Just as the Patriot Act had to have the terrorist attack to justify
such unconstitutional and draconian search, seizure and surveillance
power by the federal government; we must have a catastrophic pandemic
to justify total federal control and regulation of the production,
storage, and transport of our agricultural products.
Similar to the puzzling lack of appropriate credit given to Todd
Beamer, Jeremy Glick, Thomas Burnett, and Mark Bingham when they
spontaneously and heroically stopped 25 percent of the next “terrorist
attack” on 9-11 by ending Flight 93. We ignore qualified experts when
they explain and/or debunk the massive “bio problems” that have
already been presented to the American public as a pandemic threats to
life itself.
Starting with the media frenzy labeled the “War on Aids” we were a
world at risk until Peter H. Duesberg, at great personal cost exposed
the lies and the hype that justified federal spending for “research”.
Peter H. Duesberg is now a PhD and has a website
www.duesberg.com
.
Then the “Mad Cow Disease” which justifies the need for tracking every
animal on the face of the earth (The National Animal Identification
System NAIS ); was given a much needed expose by Mark Purdey. See
featured article: “Exposing the Lies: Prions, Organophosphates, and
Mad Cow Disease” at
www.acresusa.com
.
Like our four heros, on 9-11 the major media has not yet given any
significant coverage to bright capable voices that stop the frenzied
hype that demands more “research” and more “protection”.
Real plagues do exist, of course, so we should not take illness and
disease lightly. State laws already exist to help medical
professionals contain and/or treat infectious communicable disease.
We should be vigilant when we see so much attention given to “SARS”
and the “Avian Flu” and then the “necessity” for greater federal
research facilities like the Biolab. We have the technical ability
today to “Genetically modify”, and to artificially create viral and
bacterial mutants that are outside the natural immunity that has
protected and regulated God’s creation for several thousand years.
We should not permit the federal government the power and resources to
dabble and experiment until they succeed in creating a “super bug”that
justifies the need for those control mechanisms that are already in
the works. (NAIS, COOL, and Codex Alimentarious are regulatory
concepts.)
I
support the efforts of GNAT (
www.nobio.org
) and, of course, The National Independent Consumers and Farmers
Association (www.NICFA.org),
as well as The Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (www.farmandranchfreedom.org)
mentioned in my position on Food.
